We were up early on day two and ready to explore! I actually have a video on Emmy jumping on me in bed talking about going to Central Park. Brian actually ventured out early to grab us coffee and breakfast in bed. This is one of my fav things he does when we travel. He brings me lattes and breakfast while I sleep in. Not as easy with kiddos but I can still lay in bed. Ahhh :)
After breakfast, we got dressed and hit the subway headed for the Museum of Natural History. We started at Columbus Circle and got there right as the Museum was opening. Pro-tip-- always get tickets on your phone in transit so you can walk right in!
Gosh they are so stinkin cute.
Kate thrived more here than Emmy. About an hour in, Emily asked me if there was anything other than bones.
So we found some ducks and took pictures for our neighbor, Mr. Scott. He duck hunts :)
We hit the show at the planetarium. I think the girls liked it. I also think Emmy might have passed out for part of it.
They lined us up to take these pics as we went in. I refused to buy them but did take a pic of the pic for the memory books.
Cool wall in the subway. Gotta stop and take a picture.
Me with Euclid Ave-- the street I grew up on... in Arkansas.
We pulled a quick one on the girls for lunch. We actually made the resy on the way there. We knew they wouldn't be excited and when we walked in, they were very nervous about the food. We hit up Yakitori Totto, which was actually super cool. You had to really look to know where to go. We followed a very narrow and long staircase up to find this place. And it was very small once you got in.
We started with the salmon crispy rice, which was great! Nothing bad about this. I love crispy rice and salmon.
Emily started off strong. She tried a lot until she didn't like something and then gave up completely. I don't think Kate even pretended like she was going to try anything.
Then we went into the Yakitori. I don't exactly remember what we got but I think we tried the chicken thigh, skin, pork belly,. Brain had to remind me, we got eel. I did not dig that one! Gracious. It's hard to remember but I do know we went home and tried our own hand at it cause we loved it so much. Not the skin, wasn't a fan of that, either.
This captures Kate perfectly here. We finally told her we would take her to McDonalds after if she would just calm down.
And when we finally finished, I took the girls to McDonald's while Brian went to find coffee for us!
Cool two-story McDonald's for the kid win!
And then we went straight for WICKED on Broadway!! Which Kate and I were overly excited for. And it always lives up to the hype. It's so good!!! The girls loved it.
And Emily did not fall asleep!
Then back to the hotel and quick refresh to head to dinner. This night we went for pasta and I don't remember where we found this place but it was incredible! Kate ate a really great dinner and I think she's even actually a pasta fan now.
And it's always more fun with fancy, over-priced drinks.
We ate at La Pecora Bianca in Bryant Park. It was so cute! And the coloring sheets/books for kids were amazing. We framed a little page from one in our home as a memory.
We got french fries everywhere we went. And everyone's were absolutely amazing!! I absolutely loved the Gramigna, which was curly pasta, house-made sausage, broccolini, chili flakes. We also got the Tagliatelle which was just your regular beef and pork Bolognese. I can never say no to pasta. Especially homemade!!
We went on a fun walk after for some sight-seeing. The girls had no idea what we had in store for them...
..until they spotted the American Girl store! Which they didn't know existed. I think Emily cried she was so happy. They were closed, we were really just showing them where we would come later. They were in heaven. Emily talked about going back at least every hour until we made our way back. And we kept talking about "McKinney" which they thought was her name. I still laugh so much about this. AND I'm still highly shocked no one actually bought her on this trip.
We made our way back to the hotel after this and got some rest. And talked A LOT about American Girl dolls. XOXO
