My Craft Room

06 March 2026

Want to know what song plays in my head when I see this room OR pictures of this room? Isn't she looovely! Isn't she wonderful? She is. She is all things happiness and I love spending time in this fun room. I HAVE to go back to the very beginning on this one too. Cause it's really gotten very beautiful over the years. And I think taking the time to make it happier really makes me want to spend more time being creative in here.
How cold and drab. And I really don't understand why it has this floated ceiling. But whatever. I can work with it. This is a picture from two listings ago. I guess the people we bought it from laid down some foam flooring. Which wasn't terrible cause the floor gets cold and it was soft but it didn't work with a rolling chair and the colors were just not OK with me.

For the first little bit after we moved here, this room just held all the things we didn't know what to do with. And a lot of Brian's books and things while we renovated the library. Uncle Steve built that awesome table above for me out of some of the material he had working on the library. It's absolutely amazing and I'm so glad I have it! It's on wheels so I can move it from place to place. He's amazing!

So then fast forward to summer of 2024. I was dying to get an embroidery machine. I finally did it. It came in, I sucked at it and then got scared of the machine. I kept going in this room to try it again and I found myself just avoiding the machine and redoing the room instead. First I tried peel and stick wallpaper I had laying around but didn't actually have a plan of where to put it. I kept going and then somehow I was painting the trim and the shelving and I'm pretty sure one day Brian asked if I was done with the room and would maybe actually try the machine again.

But I kept going. I hung things I loved on the walls. I put up this cute little light fixture that I bought pre-tornado for the girls playroom. Mom and Dad picked it up in Nashville for me and actually still had it in their car. I love it and found the most perfect spot! I organized and did everything. I even found this desk on facebook marketplace for next to nothing. And it's perfect for what I needed!

Once I finished all of this, I couldn't with that flooring. It clashed and next thing I knew, I was taking it up tile by tile. And the floor wasn't bad. Refer up to the listing photo.  The color actually went really well with my scheme for this room. Until I got to paint spills on the floor. So I went to the guest room and stole the area rug. I didn't really care for it in the room anyway. And BAM. It was complete!

I still lack some fun details. I wanted some interesting switch plates but haven't picked those out yet.

This wreath was laying around. I don't know what I was going to use it for, so it found a spot on the wall. An old wedding picture frame that I found in a box. Framed a card from my friend Brooke. And I love my little cat print that I found somewhere.

I don't love the lighting but it works so I've left it. My little cross-stitch sleeping kitty that Brian makes fun of finally found a home. Kate made that silhouette of herself in PreK, the block photo I made Brian that he didn't love and I've always loved, Karma is Cat :)- bought that for bunco and figured framing it was a solid decision, photos of my girls, my 5th place state award from 9th grade FBLA is prominent, London photo and Tay-Tay lyrics. I'm surrounded by things that bring me so much joy!

Plus, how amazing is that wrapping paper holder! I love it so much and it's so nice to just run down and wrap something without having to drag everything out. The girls love it too. I keep a basket of scraps under the table and that's there favorite place to frequent.

Peep the Christmas card above the wedding photos. I made a bow and attached to the back and I love it! I added the year prior to the other side and I'm working in the 2025 card ask we speak! Love a good healthy dose of nostalgia.

On the other side is my desk, I actually have a monitor now with a dock for my laptop so I can plug and go. I love the configuration of the desk and super happy I snagged it on FB that day! It has storage underneath so I can keep all my stabilizers, bobbins, needles, etc. I actually also have a regular sewing machine that I use from time to time that has a little place to land under there too.

I LOVE my desk chair. It's comfy and beautiful. Everything is within arms reach and I have that cute little light above me too. On this wall I also have some fun things. Another Christmas card, this time in a frame with a bow. A silhouette of Brian as a kid. Kinda creepy, kinda cute. Pictures of my family, a cute little brass butterfly I bought cause it reminds me a Kate, and then that bottom picture is my fav. Us sitting on the patio at the lake, one month old baby Emmy sleeping in my arms, and Kate and daddy :)  I also have a whole wall of bags, etc.

And there she is. In all her glory.. unplanned and happy. Now if I can only find the motivation to figure out that darn machine :) XOXO
