AG Dolls are Lyfe. NYC Day Four!

11 March 2026

Welcome to the day that Emmy has been waiting on for like ever... the day we finally went to the American Girl store. And I can't believe how massive and insane it really was. I didn't think we were going to make it out of there. And that Emily would ever even decide on what to get. It was fun and stressful at the same time! Core memory!!

How these wild women wake us up. They are always sitting on Brian or trying to beat him up.

This morning we hit Central Park first thing in the morning.

Emily cartwheeled everywhere.

Wedding in the park

Took them to our favorite spot! Someday when I have an extra ten grand laying around, I'm going to name a bench for them in the park.

And this is where Brian and I have plenty of pics of us sitting on these benches :)

Then we went walking and walked for a while! Found the castle and all sorts of little trails.

Then did something the girls loved.... hopped in a taxi cab! Where it took us to the next fun thing...

The Roosevelt Island Tram. Which Brian kept calling a gondola and I was so confused. When we ask the girls their favorite thing of the trip, they always add this in! It was actually really cool. It crosses the East River and connects Roosevelt Island to the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The cabin holds 110 people, which it does not look that big!!!, and it's the same price as the metro! So it's basically free. JK, it's very inexpensive.

We got on at the very end which actually worked out great for us so we could see out of the window.

We knew better on the way back and also secured a window view!

I thought the girls might be scared but they loved it so much!!!

Off the tram and finally it's time to go to the AG store. We saw this wedding dress first and they girls wanted a picture for Mrs. Shelly's little girl who is about to get married :) Sweeties.

Peace, love, happiness and American Girl dolls!

The 90s dolls are now considered "historical." blah. Put this set-up really is hilarious. The book it pin and the pizza hut pin. That big huge computer. It's so funny!

Kate picked her doll much quicker than Emily. She was pretty set on Courtney. I don't know why. Cause she has curly hair. I think cause she was born in 1986 and that's the year I was born? She is a cute little doll!

Emily was everywhere. I couldn't keep up with her. One minute she thought she knew, the next she changed her mind. She was all over, the store and her head. Finally she landed on a truly me doll that looked like her. But not after we examined every. single. doll.

And touched all of the accessories. And picked out everything under the sun.

I posted this on IG and called it "dad of the AG store." Which means they walk away and are blissfully unaware of the price or the volume of things purchased.

But the look of happiness is so worth it, right?!

The lady took out each doll and perfectly unwrapped her and situated in the carrying case for them to carry out. It was so sweet. I think next time we're going to have to go take our dolls to the AG cafe or to the salon. Gonna need to schedule Brian something else during that time..

I love this picture. I just imagine them talking about how they are going to play with their little girls when we get back to the hotel. Which they were doing. I hope they are BFFs forever.

We got back to the hotel and relaxed for a little while, the girls played with their dolls and set up an entire little AG doll world through our room. After a little down time, we ventured out for dinner with a pit stop at Brian's bookstore, the Strand. I was on kid duty while he did his thing. I guess that's payback for a super long trip to the AG store.

Mini Brian here couldn't pick out what she wanted. So many options!!!

Emily probably picked out Kitty Corn for the 700th time.

Took us a while to find Brian but we checked out and hopped on the metro headed for Brooklyn. We've also had Laser Wolf on our list for a while and finally did it. And if you have the time and want to make the trip over, you have to try this place! We always try to go to Brooklyn to eat at least once. I want to go back here. It's amazing food with an amazing view but I guess I can get into that in a bit.

When you skip nap to play with your new doll.. Emily can fall asleep anywhere.

So Laser Wolf is an Israeli restaurant on the top floor of a hotel in Brooklyn. Fantastic views of NYC! And super delish food.

Right when we got there they lowered the shades and it rained for a few minutes then was over and we were able to open again!

Talk about dinner with a view.

Bet you won't guess what Emmy got? Lemonade!!

So this comes out first. It's the salatim which is hummus and pita-- hummus in the middle and surrounding that is Yemenite pickles, pineapple with celery (loved this!), mushroom with Swiss chard and apples, lutenitsa, cabbage and fennel (also fantastic!), beets with pickled fresno peppers, babaganoush, gigante beans, broccoli and capers, Israeli pickles and olives, Tunisian potatoes, i think there were carrots too. It was amazing. I don't know what I was eating but I know I loved every single bite! And get this, it's unlimited. They will just keep bringing it.

it was hot out and a little humid after that quick rain shower. Brian and I got the "Get Shishlik'd" cocktail and it was so delish! It was vodka, aperol, guava and lime- frozen!"

Had to cheers Emmy too!

These French fries are the best in the world. Mark it down. I swear. And IDK what this dip was but out of this world. I looked it up-- tehina ranch. I have no idea what kind of meat we ordered but it was out of this world. You can't order wrong. And then they bring you dessert. I can't remember the flavor at the time, it changes seasonally but it was so wonderful. And this little topping set it over the top. I will go back here someday. Do yourself a favor and go!

They brought the girls plain :)

Now that we're fat and happy, we started the trek back to the subway to head back to the city. And what do you know, Emmy passed out.. again.

And these cool kids read the entire way back!!

I absolutely love how much these girls love this city and all it has to offer. They soaked it all in and are so ready to go back. When we came home from Asheville in January, we flew through NYC and it killed them to not be staying there. I'm so glad we took this tripped and opened up this world of wonder for them. Best decision! XOXO
