Catch it Down in New Orleans

24 March 2021

Probably not the best blog title in the days of COVID. But I'm really referring to the song from Princess and the Frog, "Down in New Orleans." Which we have listened to nonstop for about three months now. And it's gotten Kate VERY excited for our trip to New Orleans last weekend to attend our cousin Molly's wedding!

Which was so beautiful and fun! We haven't been to a wedding in so long. This one was fantastic on all levels. And now Kate is totally obsessed with the princess bride Molly.

Goodness she's so incredibly cute and really just beautiful :)

We went down to NOLA early, on Thursday, to grab some extra time for good meals and relaxing. Emily spent the weekend at my parents house and had a blast.

Our first stop once we got to town was to eat lunch. We ate around the corner from our hotel at a place called High Hat. Brian had the boudin and it was fantastic!! Kate ordered a grilled cheese and immediately declared that she doesn't like grilled cheese anymore. EYE ROLL.

That night we went to Molly and Christian's house for a crawfish boil and it was excellent! So good. Lots of work but it tasted wonderful.

The next day we took a ride the streetcar, just like Tiana did in Princess and the Frog. It was so cold! Was not prepared for that. Kate was dressed like it was the middle of summer. She got some beads the night before at the crawfish boil and I love that we wore them the duration of the time in town.

I did a terrible job of taking pictures the rest of the time. We had a nice rehearsal dinner on Friday, followed by lots of walking around NOLA and eating on Saturday. The wedding was Saturday evening in the Sculpture Garden of City Park. It was beautiful, the weather had warmed up, and it turned out to be perfect!!

Kate just kept asking to go see Molly. She finally asked if she could go take a picture with Molly. Which is like soooo not Kate like. When we found Molly, she did this! So typical toddler. But it's still so very sweet. Little did I know this would be the start of her night long obsession!

The reception was so pretty! They hosted it at Bearcat CBD and this patio was perfection!

It was so nice to be out of the house and enjoying such a perfect evening in a beautiful place. With no mask!

More searching for Molly and admiring the princess bride. She's so sweet! I love how she's looking at Molly in this picture below. Disregard me cheesing in the background. It was a great weekend shared with family and celebrating a wonderful couple. Cheers for Molly and Christian! XOXO
