This was fun! You know I'd like to say this was all for Kate to enjoy and appreciate and yada yada.. but this was all for me! I love this kind of thing! I love painting and making things pretty and just being creative. I stayed up late in my craft room, painting, and listing to music. It was lovely!
Pulled out all my supplies and luckily had exactly what I needed. I started the night we picked this baby up at Academy. We purchased the very last color I could find in the central Arkansas area.
I found an inspo picture on Pinterest and went to work. Figured if I could get the first coat down, it wouldn't take as long the next day. And sometimes its best for me to not think about design or how and just go for it.
Would have been so much easier if it was flat across. And I struggled with the design-- should I avoid the dips or just go over them like they don't matter? I went for it! Cause I would have wasted so much space if I didn't! And it was much easier than I thought.
I wrote Johnston perfect the first time! Then forgot it was wet and touched it. Oops. Outlined to hopefully make it look better.
Of course we lost all the stickers we had saved for her trunk. So we went to the Small Shoppes Marketplace (was Painted Tree) and found some cute ones! We also went through every single drawer at our house and found a couple of hers. She got the American Girl one the week of in Chicago so we saved that one for sure! We also had some Arkansas agriculture ones on the sides and back.
Home from the pool and happy to see her finished trunk! She picked the placement of the stickers.. with Emmy's help.
And then we had a lovely night before she left. Uncle Steve, Aunt Laura, John, Molly and Christian all came over for dinner. The girls are so into these Dolly Parton cocktail ice stirrers that they use as water popsicles. Haha. So fun!
