I'm in LOVE!!!!

20 July 2012

...with Hayden Elizabeth Garner!! Y'all she is 7 pounds and 7 ounces of pure perfection!!! My best friend Whitney gave birth to her first child this week and honestly, it's kind of all I've been thinking about! Whit text me about noon on Tuesday and said she was headed to labor and delivery. You better bet as soon as I finished word I drove as fast as I could to Conway. Luckily, I had packed a bag because I had a feeling Hayden was going to come early.

I want to share some pics.. this child is precious and I am dying to get back to Conway to visit my new love :)

We actually had dinner last Saturday night and I took this picture! 38 weeks and ready to POP!!

Mom and Hayden

Minutes after this sweetness was born!

Y'all... this is perfection. I'm completely in love with this sweet face.

Slowly but surely....

18 July 2012

I have completely fallen off my pinterest bandwagon... I can't make any excuses! I started the 4th of July week of strong and here I am... two weeks later with only 2 completed projects to show you! Honestly... I just needed a break~ I have been so busy and it's been nice to just go home after work and not think about pinterest. I am only 4 short but I WILL finish!! (I've actually done some small pins but I want my last 4 to blow you away :) SOOO.. I'll share with you what I have finished.

Day 26- 4th of July Cake
Sadness is all I felt as I realized I forgot to buy red, white, and blue sprinkles... and the store was 7 miles away SOO.. you make do. But how cute is this? And it really wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. It was a white cake mix and then a lot of food coloring. VERY festive and pretty yummmm :)

Day 27- Wooden Monogram
I made this for a razorback shower we went to last weekend :) I originally was going to make it as a wedding gift and copy the example I found on pinterest. But then the razorback shower came up (and these two LOVE all things razorback) so I figured.. how perfect!! The hardest part was finding old wood because I wanted to to be kind of rugged.. then I had to build a frame on the back.. paint it and there ya go! I wish I would have picked a different font for the "Huffman" but it's okay :)

So that's all I have! Hopefully next week I can complete the project. A couple ideas I had kind of fell through sooo.. ya know, that's life! I'll come up with 2 to replace and show you soon!

sweet baby d....

10 July 2012

Wanted to share this canvas I painted over the 4th of July break. When I posted the canvas I did for Whitney, my friend Priscilla asked for a boy version for her new baby, Derek. It's soo hard to paint for boys (in my opinion) but I tried my best. I think it will look precious in his blue, green and yellow colorful room :)

Happy 4th!!

09 July 2012

Hope everyone had a fabulous 4th! I was slightly depressed when I found out the 4th fell on a Wednesday... seriously?! We got Wednesday off (usually I love being a federal employee but this time I just wanted more!!) I ended up taking Thursday and Friday off. Brian got the whole week off because he has an amazing dream job that people like me would die for :) ANYWAY, we spent the majority of the week with my family at the lake and I dedicated a full day to crafting. Very hotttt but the weather was amazing at night for fabulous boat rides, i LOVE!

So.. I guess I'll share some pics. Don't laugh... the flag shirts were a joke by my parents. However, everyone participated and wore them long enough to take a few pics :)

Playing baggo with Josh and Clark. Next time I will not be partners with Clark.. he totally lost the game for us! PS. don't you love the lanterns I hung in the trees?!

The kids at dinner, pizza night!

Brian and I, patriotic pride!!

We were all good sports. My parents are losing their minds in their old age, I KID!!!! It was funny.
So... that was my week/weekend. I should be back soon with some more pinterest projects. Hopefully I can wrap them all up this week. BTW... do you see the "EAT" letters I made in week one in the pic above?? :) LOVE. XOXO

Week 4 Wrap.... Almost finished!

03 July 2012

I'm winding down on the Pinterest challenge.. over half way there! These last few are going to take some more time cause I want them to be amazing!! I already posted 3 of my projects from this past week (below). so here are the rest.... And by the way, the next 4 projects are only food. So they are a little boring.. but next week... I promise to not disappoint :)

Day 22- Star-Spangled Pie
This was pretty good... nothing like the peanut butter pie that I have come to love sooo much! But it was cute and festive and I do love those rainbow cookies! And this is super easy

Day 23- Southwestern Corn Dip
YUM!! Made this at the lake this weekend and it was a hit! (I'm not very good at taking pictures of food) It was even a little better the next day after it thickened up a bit. I added an extra jalapeno because Brian likes the heat BUT it was little too much.

Day 24- Summer Pasta
Top 5 favorite thing in my life='s pasta salad!! I'm not going to lie though, this wasn't my favorite. I'm so in to the pasta, Italian dressing, some broccoli, bell peppers, salt, pepper... doesn't have to be fancy. This was good but not amazing. I do LOVE lemon juice and I think that made this dish.

Day 25- Cookie Dough Popsicle

*Please do not judge me but I can not get this to rotate for the life of me!! These were super easy to make but the result was not as yum. Even looking at this makes me not happy. It tasted like frozen milk and not like a sweet should. I mean, I get it.. it's made out of milk but I guess I expected a different result. THUMBS DOWN.

I also did one other project I found on pinterest this week.. but I don't want to add a number to it because it was kind of lame. I do want to share it though because it works!! It's the pit stain removal project. You can find it HERE... AND this is magic!! It was easy! It only takes 3 ingredients ~ dawn, hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. SO, so easy!

UPDATE* on the teeth whitening, my dental hygienist friend Morgan, who I am halfway responsible for her passing DH school (since I quizzed her on the dorsal, ventral-whatever everything) told me that the baking soda, toothpaste mixture isn't going to give me any kind of long term results.

That's a wrap on Week 4! I'm excited to finish the rest of my projects, I've already got the last 6 lined out and I'm anxious to finish them and post about them! You are going to LOVE!!!! They are all super crafty :)

Hope everyone has a happy and very safe 4th! Drink lots of water and don't text and drive :) LOVE, XOXO!

02 July 2012

Wanted to share a few things I painted a while back... These are the only ones that made the move to my small little apartment :) Simple but so cute!
And I plan on updating my pinterest project tomorrow... I'm slacking a little but MAYBE i can make some of it up tonight. Until then.... hollla!

Mid-week pinteresting :)

28 June 2012

Hello!! I figured I would share a quick mid-week update on my pinterest project :) I've also been working on some crafts that I didn't get from Pinterest & thought I would share those.. ENJOY!!

SOO, I went back and did a little re-vamp on a project I did in week 1. I wanted to make some cute decorations for the 4th so I made stars & stripes candle holders. I made my designs with stars stickers and for the stripe jars- I used painters tape and rubber bands to make cute patterns :) then I sprayed them with my etching spray and TA-DA!! Here are some before, during and after pics....

Day 19- DIY Work Out T-Shirt
Yes, there is a story as to why I used an old navy flag t :) Last year on the 4th of July I brought a flag t-shirt to the lake (Rachel and I bought them to cut the sleeves off and re-create our trashy Destin shirts) I ended up making Brian an awesome 4th of July outfit with my shirt and then made him some jorts to wear. So this year I bought us both a shirt so we could wear them together for our "anniversary." Anyway, this was super easy, the instructions are perfect if you want to make this. I'll have to post an after picture ofus wearing them together next week!

Day 20- DIY Marbled Glasses
I can not find the link of where I found this project from Pinterest but I posted the blog where I got the instructions. Maybe I didn't do it right but it didn't turn out like the pictures! Let's just say I'm using these to hold my paint brushes. The idea was cool but the finished product... not so much. You use nail polish and drop it in water-- when you drop the glass in the water it is realllly neat to see the pain cling to the glass.

Day 21- Refinishing Old Wood
Okay, so maybe this doesn't technically count as refinishing furniture but cut me a little slack :) I found this at Goodwill for $2!!! Brian has this huge knife that has no home so I was like okay, this would be cool for his apartment. It was realllly ugly... So i took a sander to it, used a little polish and got it looking pretty good. I'm thinking I might stain it? But really this picture doesn't look that great. It looks much more pretty in person!

OKAY, I saved the best for last!!! I saw this canvas on Riffraff and just knew I had to recreate my own!

What do you think?! It didn't turn out as good as I wanted but I don't think it's horrible! I'm working on my second one right now so I'm hoping it will look AMAZE!!! Anyway, hope everyone has a happy and safe weekend! I don't know that I will do much crafting over the next week.. maybe some cute 4th of July baking?! I'll update you soon :)

XOXO, ARH

Week 3

26 June 2012

I played major catch up this week and finished all 7 projects, plus one bonus!! I didn't do as many crafts this week, more cooking and I did have a couple complete busts. (It's a bit easier to cook when I'm traveling during the week) Anywho, here we go....

Day 11- Cinnamon & Sugar Pretzels
SO yum!! I love a mix of sweet and salty so theses were perfect! You just mix some oil with sugar and cinnamon, coat the pretzels and bake at 350 for like 30 mins! soooo simple!

Day 12- Sweet Chicken Wraps
This picture is awful!! But these were good! Again, so easy! They are meant to be appetizers but I made them in to a meal :) Chicken, wrap it with bacon and then in a separate bowl... mix some brown sugar and chili powder, sprinkle on top and bake as usual! You could also do these on a grill!

Day 13- Weight Watchers Edamame Fried Rice
I added shrimp to this one for a little something extra. It was pretty good. Make sure you use low sodium soy sauce unless you like salty! Other than that, it was good! You can use chicken, beef... really anything?!

Day 14- Removing shellac with acetone and tin foil (BUST)
I don't have a picture for this but lets just say I ended up with acetone all over my body and after all that my nails were still painted. Never again!!

Day 15- Homemade Teeth Whitener
I started this last week so I'll have to update you in a month or so how it's working! I feel like it did some good but the instructions say to keep doing until you see results. Not sure if I'm using the right tooth paste.. it didn't say what to use? I just used what I had :) Stay tuned....

Day 16- Nail Drying Trick (BUST)
Don't have a picture of this either... as it didn't work. The theory is.. you can paint your nails... submurge them in a sink full of cold water for 3 minutes, they will dry and all the excess you got on your skin will magically disappear. False. My nails looked like a messfest when I finished and then I had to spend 10 minutes removing the nasty nail polish. :( I was really hoping this was the miracle I was looking for!!

Day 17- Strawberry Sangria
White strawberry sangria - white wine, strawberry schnapps, fresh strawberries
I can't get my picture to upload so I'm using the one from Pinterest! This was pretty yum! I used some barefoot white wine, they were out of strawberry schnapps so I substituted strawberry pucker :) and then threw some cut strawberries in. It was pretty good but a little sweet. Next time I will def leave out the sugar!

Day 18- "Etched" Mug
Who loves Brian's new mug?! So pretty sweet!! I can't find any good razorback stickers so I had to improvise but I think it turned out pretty good! :) If I can just find more stickers (better ones) he will probably have a whole set! Perfect for football season!!

Sooo, what do you think about this weeks projects?! Lame? Okay? I'm working on some more exciting ones this week. I also have some crafts I want to do that I've kind of thought up from other projects on Pinterest so I might start substituting?!

Anyway, I'm over half way there! Until next week... XOXO!

Week 2 Wrap.... Sorta....

19 June 2012

This week I was unsuccessful in my attempt to do a project a day. I couldn't find the supplies that I needed and then I just got busy. I'm going to try to do better this week! :)

First I wanted to share a picture from this weekend. Every year we go to Lake DeGray for Father's day. We started this 7 years ago when we got a boat, except back then we camped. Thank goodness we have since upgraded and now we can stay in our cozy house. This picture was taken Saturday afternoon. I love DeGray.

OKAY, now on to the projects I DID finish.

Day 8- Drawer Pull Necklace Holder
OH-M-GEE!! I LOVE this project!! A few months back I made a different hanger for all my necklaces but I didn't really finish it and then I didn't like it SO when I saw this-- I knew I had to do it! It took a little more to make- drilling, finding wood, painting. the most difficult was picking out pulls I liked. I think it turned out great!

Day 9- Homemade Ice Cream (no ice cream machine)
SIMPLY AMAZING!!! This was sooo good and so rich and I am in love! I posted this pic on facebook and immediately had people asking me about it or texting me for the recipe :) Brian  and I love Breyers Oreo ice cream and we bought the one with oreos and sprinkles last time so I figured I would give it a try. I saw months ago where Lindsey tried this and loved it so I copied her idea. (Like I'm doing for this whole project :) Whipping cream, sweetened condensed milk, butter, vanilla, oreos, sprinkles and a freezer... it really is that simple!

Day 10- Fix broken make-up with rubbing alcohol
So this was easy and a lot cheaper than buying new make-up :) Seriously, all you have to do is drop some rubbing alcohol in to whatever make-up you have that's broken, rub it all together with your finger and let it sit. (BTW I read that the alcohol won't hurt you) By the next day I was ready to wear my blush again. It's not perfect but it works.

Sooo.. here's to 7 projects this week. Until then :)
XOXO

Week 1 Wrap Up :)

12 June 2012

So I successfully finished the first week of my Pinterest challenge. It was not easy and I'm not going to lie I might have finished like 4 projects last night but HEY, they got finished. I would def like to slow down and actually enjoy putting these projects together. I'm super excited about tonight's-- but you'll have to wait to find out about that one.

Day 2- Raised letters
I really liked the idea for this... I printed out the letters like the instructions show, taped wax paper to the top and traced them with my craft puff paint. I traced "and they lived happily ever after" but when the paint dried it was practically flat and so very difficult to peel off of the wax paper. I WAS going to use the raised letters to make a canvas, mod podge the letters to that canvas and then paint it off white for a wedding gift. Better luck next time :)

Day 3- Canvas for Baby Hayden
A few months ago my friend Whitney found this super cute canvas that she asked me to paint for her new baby Hayden. I LOVE it!! And i know when Hayden makes her appearance in July she will love it too :) By the way, this took FOREVER but so worth it!!

Day 4- Wine Cork
This didn't have instructions because come to find out, someone actually made it and it wasn't really a DIY project. But I had already bought the drawer pull so I made do. I couldn't find any drawer pulls to buy so I stole one out of my dads cork collection, stuck the wine opener in it to help with the hole and then pretty much forced the drawer pull into the cork.   I'll probably end up buying a new cork and redoing the whole project... but it sure is a fun way to spice up your wine bottle!

Day 5- Knock off Anthropology Metal Letters
LOVE how this project turned out! I made these for the kitchen at our lake house and I think they will look fabulous! It's really just as easy as buying the cardboard letters at hobby lobby ($2.49 each, I got mine half off) and a can of metal-like spray paint. Be careful when you take the price stickers off... I have a small blemish on my "E" because of these. After you spray, rough them up a bit with a sandpaper block and ta-da! SO cute!

Day 6- Mason Jar Luminary
This one was pretty neat, too! My mom has been telling me she wants some cute decorations for the lake house 4th of July celebration! So I saw this project and figured, perfect!! I got a large mason jar, covered it with star stickers and sprayed it with the etching spray paint I bought at Hobby Lobby. The original used just solid red spray paint but I thought it would be pretty neat to make it look frosted instead. I love the outcome! I think I'm going to make more for the 4th... but I'm going to use smaller, wide mouth mason jars. They are sure to be a hit :)
Day 7- Personalized Coffee Mug

I was a little skeptical when I saw this next one. Like did my parents really pay so much money when I was young for me to paint pottery?! This is really as easy as it seems... I just free handed Brian's initials (I don't drink coffee), stuck it in the oven for 25 minutes @ 300 and BAM! It probably could have cooked a little longer but I was tired. Just make sure you have something that is oven safe!

So that's a wrap for week 1! This has already been fun. I've been rearranging my pinterest boards trying to pick out my next projects :) I'll keep you updated on my progress!!

XOXO
