Where work and life collide! One of my very last events at the Department of Agriculture was the stop at Forest Park for the Rice in Schools program. And it included 1st and 2nd grades so I got to tag along with my kiddos and their friends for all the fun.
Rice is the largest crop in Arkansas.. and if you didn't know, agriculture is Arkansas's largest industry! Our state supplies more than 50% of US rice production! That's huge. Yet, how often do you see rice on your kids school menu? Me either.
Enter the Rice in Schools program. Where Leslee, above, goes out in schools and educates the kids on rice, lets them try it and also works with food and nutrition staff to train on the recipes. It's a win-win!
Kate trying the fried rice :) not sure..
Emmy's turn. It's cute. They get to chop their veggies and participate in the process.
the headband on top of the chef's hat was a nice touch.
After that, it was actually Brian's turn to be the mystery reader in Kate's class so I hung around to watch.
And then I figured since I was off work, I might as well head over to Sherwood and hit my favorite spot, Kiehl Ave Flea Market. Was a lovely day :) XOXO
