My last spring break post! And what a good one with some really lovely friends! We've had so many fun meals together and this one is at the top! Holly got us a reservation at Ryn in Bentonville. It was so wonderful. The food was amazing, the ambience was devine, and the friendship was the real star of the show. :)
Ryn serves a super seasonal, super local tasting menu and they say to schedule about 2.5 hours for the entire meal. You don't know what you are eating beforehand and it's really awesome. At the end of the meal, they handed us an envelope with signed menus for each person. They also had these fun cards on the table that had little sketches of the produce they used or fun facts about them.
Of course I took a lot of food pics and the one above was the very first course-- it was a caramelized onion donut, nori cracker with beef tartare and and apple tart. I remember liking the apple tart way more than I thought I would.
Can't believe I'm going to say this but I really, really loved this. It's spring lettuce, white wine vinaigrette, candied pepitas, dill aioli and pecorino. I was prepared to hate it because they said kale was in it-- but goodness. That white wine and the pecorino was amazing!!
Snapped a picture of Brian during the hokkaido scallop crudo with citrus, hazelnuts and fennel. It was delish!
haha?
This is the celeriac and potato latke, smoked trout roe, and creme fraiche. It was great! We're big latke fans around here! And I think this is where I got off the picture train for a while. Which is sad because I didn't get pics of my favs-- black cod, carrot dumplins with lamb gochujang bolognese.. so good!!
No clue what this drink was-- but confident we should have been cut off by now!
And then comes dessert and I'm back with the pics. This is the fennel white chocolate mousse, carrot caramel, chocolate crumble, and fennel gel. I wanted to hate it but I really liked it! Especially that crumble.
..and another!!! Chocolate cake fig curd, miso tiramisu, vanilla ice cream with apple caramel. I haven't met many things with miso that I don't like! I couldn't finish even half of this but everything was so interesting. It was pretty amazing. A true experience.
My fav room-- the plant room. Snapped a quick pic on my way to the bathroom!
And then of my peeps coming back. We shut the place down.
And then this-- waiting on our uber. The guys talking to the bartender and getting tips and tricks. It was such a fun night. Always a blast when we hang or dine with the Lars!
